17/07/12 to 18/07/12 - Tuesday 17 July, 7.30pm Wednesday 18 July, 2.30pm - £8.50 (£6.00 concessions)
This is a Romeo and Juliet unlike any you have seen before. Shakespeare's original text forms its essence, but is brought to the audience through a chorus of Love Geeks congregating to tell "the love story to end all love stories". Such quirky characters infectiously exude the comedy of the first half, whilst the play's tragic conclusions bleed across the stage with heartbreaking beauty and youthful understanding. The presence of Fate is physically portrayed through personified feelings of the "pair of star-crossed lovers", showing us the gamut of their delight, defiance and ultimate destructiveness. Meanwhile the forgotten character of Rosaline plays a central role, as she watches Romeo's tragic liaison with Juliet unfold, aware that this could have been her.
