Blind Summit Theatre Master Class: Extreme Puppetry posted on 1 February 2011

Blind Summit Theatre subvert and reinvent the art-form of puppetry. The company is renowned for making highly inventive and engaging physical theatre where actors manipulate puppets, objects, furniture, the set and each other. Using Japanese Bunraku three-man operated puppets, interacting with performers, to create scenes of humour, pathos and immense dramatic power.

Led by co-Artistic Director, Mark Down, this Master Class focuses on Blind Summit Theatre's unique approach to performing with puppets on stage. Participants will works with objects and Bunraku puppets to explore the concepts of breath, focus and fixed point. Improvisational performance techniques will also be used to bring puppets and objects alive.

Part of the Master Class series, a practical programme of artist development workshops for creative professionals facilitated by the country's leading performing arts practitioners.
