Cambridge City Council - Parks posted on 1 August 2012

One of the great things about this city, perhaps even the greatest, is its abundance and variety of parks, greens, ‘pieces’ (as they are perhaps uniquely known in Cambridge) and open spaces, all situated within the city’s boundaries. One minute, it seems, you can be walking through the city centre, the next you’re practically out in the countryside, with water on one side and a herd of cows on the other.
Of course Cambridge folk and visitors here use the parks and open spaces for any manner of activities during the warmer months. Go down to Jesus Green or Parker’s Piece on a weekday evening and you’re more than likely to see people jogging, playing football, skateboarding, chucking a frisbee about, strolling, sitting and chatting, flying kites or cycling – sometimes all at the same time. Anyone who uses the city’s parks knows what a valuable resource they are, which is why Cambridge City Council is always looking for feedback, and encouraging us to help keep them clean and safe by reporting any issues or problems via www.cambridge.gov.uk, the city council’s website.
