The Waterman posted on 1 August 2012

The Waterman pub on Chesterton Road has been a fixture on Mitcham's Corner for decades. Over the years the pub has had a number of different landlords and owners, and is currently under the stewardship of a Husband and Wife team who are all set to continue in the pub's proud traditions, by providing the neighbourhood with a welcoming environment that encapsulates all that is best about the great British pub.

The Waterman's new classic pub food menu and specials board, alongside fine cask ales, wines and fresh ground coffee can now be enjoyed to the maximum in its newly renovated interior, offering patrons and diners a "home-from-home" atmosphere.

The Waterman can boast a number of superb menus, offering home cooked food, inspired by classic British and authentic Chinese cuisine. The chefs at The Waterman are extremely proud of the fact that everything on their menu is home cooked and prepared using only the finest local ingredients. In fact, many of the ingredients used in their dishes contain products that are grown or bred at the Fieldgate Farmshop in Royston.

The Waterman’s Table Menu offers classic pub food, with all the traditional favourites available, dishes include the hearty pie of the day, sumptuous homemade beef burgers and everyone’s favourite – fish and chips. The Table Menu is served on Monday-Saturday 12:00-22:00 and 12:00-20:00 on Sundays.

The Waterman also has a seasonal chef’s specials board, which includes a range of international dishes. Every Tuesday evening sees the chef's specials board showcase a fantastic array of healthy, authentic Chinese dishes.

From 18:00-22:00 The Waterman introduces a selection of freshly cooked creations, including mouth-watering dishes such as their Crispy Belly of Pork, stir fried with Chinese five spices, Kunpo Chicken and a selection of classic noodle dishes, all of which are cooked using the healthiest possible recipes – you wont find greasy deep fried Chinese dishes at The Waterman.

The Waterman have also introduced a traditional Dim Sum dining experience, which allows diners to choose from a fine selection of smaller authentic delicacies to share. Dim Sum is a great style of cooking that offers a great way to introduce yourself to the wonders of genuinely authentic Chinese cuisine.

Where would we be without a Sunday roast? Anyone who has cooked one knows that there's a fine art to cooking the perfect Sunday lunch, so this weekend, why not hand the responsibility over to the expert kitchen team at The Waterman? They provide a choice of two different freshly prepared roasts - offering either a chicken or beef course - and at extremely affordable prices, it’s a great way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon. The Sunday Roast is available from 12:00-20:00. All the roasts are served with seasonal vegetables, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding.

And as the weather warms up, The Waterman offers a secluded outdoor courtyard area that makes for a perfect al fresco dining or drinking destination through the day and into the night.

As mentioned - The Waterman is all about the traditional pub atmosphere, and where would that atmosphere be without people – The Waterman regularly host private functions and parties for up to 50 people, offering buffet dining as one of your catering options.
